Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones was caught on camera reacting in disbelief after Mohamed Salah squandered golden opportunity in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The heavyweight clash at Anfield, part of Matchweek 8 of the 2025 /26 Premier League season, ended with Ruben Amorim’s men taking all three points while the Reds were left ruing missed chances (none bigger than Salah’s) in the 65 minute.

Jones starts celebrating too early

A viral clip from the match showed Curtis Jones beginning to celebrate before Salah had even taken his shot, convinced the Egyptian star would find the net as he so often does. But instead the unthinkable happened.

After defensive error left Salah one on one with the goalkeeper, the 32 year old forward blazed his effort high and wide leaving Jones with his hands on his head in sheer disbelief.

The midfielder’s reaction quickly spread across social media with many fans highlighting it as symbol of Liverpool’s frustrating afternoon.

A Rare Off Day for the Egyptian King

Misses like this are rare for Salah whose lethal finishing has defined Liverpool’s attack since his arrival from Roma in 2017.

Over the years, he has tormented Man United in particular contributing 19 goal against them (13 goal and 6 assist) making them his favourite victims.

But on Sunday the script flipped. United’s disciplined defensive block frustrated Liverpool’s attacking rhythm and Salah’s uncharacteristic miss proved costly as Marcus Rashford & Alejandro Garnacho struck to secure famous win for the visitors.
