Real Madrid are hoping to re-establish a five-point lead at the top of La Liga, and their chances have been boosted as they have found an equaliser against Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby at the RiyadhAir Metropolitano.

Atleti have threatened in the opening stages, and Alexander Sorloth wasted a big chance to score the opener as he waited too long to shot, which allowed Eder Militao to make a crucial last man challenge on the Norwegian striker. Despite this, Real Madrid saw their defence breached soon after as Robin Le Normand headed home from close range following a lovely cross from the right by Giuliano Simeone.

However, Real Madrid were not behind for long, despite having been dominated in the minutes after Atleti scored. Arda Guler played Kylian Mbappe in behind, and La Liga’s top scorer made no mistake to make it 1-1.
