Fresh images of Havertz have ramped up concerns over his fitness amid reports he is set to miss the rest of the season
A video appearing to show Kai Havertz limping badly during Arsenal’s mid-season Dubai trip has ramped up fears over the forward’s fitness as Mikel Arteta faces an injury crisis in attack.
Havertz suffered a hamstring injury on Monday and the Athletic report he is set to miss the rest of the season.
Arsenal have since travelled back to London and Havertz is being assessed by the club’s medical staff.
Arteta is expected to provide an update during his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Leicester.
In the meantime, footage has emerged on social media which appears to show Havertz walking gingerly towards the team bus while surrounded by club staff.
Losing the 25-year-old would come as a major blow to Arsenal’s title hopes, with Arteta set to go into the Leicester game with only three fit forwards.
Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are all already sidelined, while the Gunners’ failure to sign a centre-forward in January left them hugely reliant on Havertz, the club’s top scorer this season, for the run-in.
As it stands, the only attacking options at Arteta’s disposal are Raheem Sterling, Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri, none of whom are natural strikers.
