Real Madrid are looking to continue their 100% record against Levante, and as things stand, they are on course to do so after taking the lead at the Ciudad de Valencia.
The opening minutes have seen both sides have big chances to score. Ivan Romero and Adrian De la Fuente should have done better for Levante, while Franco Mastantuono missed a glorious opportunity after Mat Ryan had denied Vinicius Junior, who is the man that has now broken the deadlock.
Both sides fought for control of the ball on the edge Levante’s penalty area, and it eventually reached Vinicius, who produced an exquisite finish with the outside of his right foot to find the far corner of Ryan’s goal, leaving him with no chance.
Vinicius has a good record against Levante, having now scored seven goals in eight matches against the Valencian side. As for this season, it is his third in La Liga, which is impressive considering that he is still working himself back to form after a difficult first half of 2025.
The last 12 months have been tough for Vinicius, most notably because he has been replaced as Real Madrid’s “main man” by Kylian Mbappe. His prominence at the Santiago Bernabeu has dropped, especially as there are chances for him to be sold in 2026 if he does not sign a new contract – his current deal ends in 2027.
If he can build on his promising start to the season, Vinicius could have more bargaining power during contract negotiations with Real Madrid, but regardless, it is expected that this matter will be resolved in the coming months. As for right now, he will be keen to ensure that Los Blancos see this victory out, as they seek to make it six wins from six in La Liga.
