Edoardo Bove is set to restart his career in England, with Watford closing in on a deal for the Roma midfielder.
According to La Repubblica, the Championship side has emerged as the most insistent suitor for the 23-year-old, who is looking for a fresh start away from Italy.
Notably, the move comes after a difficult period for Bove, who has not featured in a professional match since his harrowing collapse during Fiorentina’s clash with Inter in December 2024. Following the incident, he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Furthermore, because Italian regulations prohibit athletes from competing at a professional level with such a device—a rule that previously saw Christian Eriksen depart Inter—a move abroad became the only viable path for him to continue his playing career.
Indeed, the midfielder has had his contract terminated by Roma. This would allow the Italian U21 international to join the Hornets as a free agent. For Bove, Vicarage Road represents more than just a transfer; it is a welcome move that offers a lifeline back into the game he loves, following over a year on the sidelines.
Consequently, Watford are hopeful of finalizing the medical and financial details shortly to aid their push for Premier League promotion. While there were preliminary inquiries from other English clubs, Watford’s persistence has placed them at the front of the queue for a player once regarded as one of Roma’s brightest midfield prospects.
