Rangers will travel to league leaders Hearts on Monday afternoon, for a crucial clash in the Scottish Premiership. The ‘Gers will almost certainly have to win if they are to lift the league title in two weeks’ time.
Danny Röhl opened his press conference with an injury update on Belgian defender Tuur Rommens, who has been out of action since Rangers’ win over Aberdeen at the end of March. “Tuur Rommens is back in training, as is Ryan Naderi, but we will see if they are both fit for Monday. Tynecastle is a tough place to go, and we are expecting a hard game.”
The German head coach went on to speak about his side’s mentality going into their final run of fixtures, “We need now, in the next four games, good performances that are over 100%, we cannot go below that. In October, we were a long way away, but now we have four finals to go. We were very disappointed after Sunday. Coming back in on Monday, everyone was very positive, and we just need to keep going because we still all believe.”
Youssef Chermiti netted a brace against Motherwell last weekend; the manager had high praise for the Portuguese forward. “Youssef Chermiti had a really difficult time in October and November. He is involved in so much on the pitch, but also off. He is a big character, and he works very hard, and I am really happy to have him here. In the big games, he steps up, but he always gives his all, and I hope he scores more goals from now until the end of the season.”
Last but not least, Röhl spoke specifically on the clash with Hearts, stating, “Both teams are under pressure, and I’m sure Hearts will try everything to win, but we will do everything and more to win as well. The result is the only important thing. We need a good start in the game and keep hunting until the end.”
The game will take place at Tynecastle on Monday, May 4th, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30pm (UK time)
