Werder Bremen ‘to enter’ race for Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy | OneFootball

Werder Bremen’s hunt for a defensive midfielder has turned to Trabzonspor’s Batista Mendy, with Villarreal, Getafe, Genoa and Torino also linked with the 26-year-old.

Footmercato reports that Werder are ready to enter the race, although a €7 million valuation could be a stretch for the Green and Whites.

The 1.91m Frenchman was highly rated after breaking through at Angers. He has made more than 100 appearances across Trabzonspor and Sevilla over the past three seasons, returning to Trabzonspor this summer after a loan ended.

Trabzonspor are open to a permanent sale before his contract expires next year. Sevilla opted against a permanent deal after he lost his starting place late last season.

Mendy has represented France at under-19 level. Trabzonspor have also been linked with a move for Mohamed Salah.
