Wesley Fofana’s return to fitness has seen a big improvement in Chelsea’s fortunes this season, and having him fit for tomorrow’s game against Arsenal will be a huge boost – if it happens.

Ahead of the game, the defender spoke about the prospects of playing in this juicy fixture:
“It’s a London derby. Every time [we play Arsenal] it’s a difficult game,” Fofana said in quotes picked up on the Chelsea website.
“It’s a little bit similar to the Barcelona game. We need to defend 11 versus 11, all together, and try to do everything for the clean sheet. We need to stay together and stay solid. It’s good to keep a clean sheet, but we will also need to score and attack – and everyone needs to attack as well. We work well as a team, which is very important.
“The key is just working every day, trying to improve everything and staying together because not every day is easy and very good, so we just need to stay together as a team.”
Fofana’s status is a major question mark. He’s fit and playing well, but so far there’s been caution to not use him more than once a week. He played the full 90 against Barcelona in midweek, but if ever there was a time to take a gamble, this was it.
Fofana’s form for the Blues is made clear by the stats – they’re on a great winning run with him in the team, and it’s going to be an incredibly tough call for Enzo Maresca over whether to leave him out for the sake of caution over his fitness.
As well as the game in the Premier League tomorrow, Chelsea and Arsenal could be squaring up for a transfer battle soon too – the Blues want one of the Gunners’ best young players.
