Wesley has been ruled out of Brazil’s World Cup squad after suffering injury.
According to L'Équipe, the AS Rome right-back was hurt in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Egypt and Sunday’s tests revealed an adductor lesion in his left thigh.
The former Flamengo defender will leave the camp. Brazil open their campaign on Saturday against Morocco in Group C.
Carlo Ancelotti will call up Ederson, the defensive midfielder from Atalanta Bergame, as his replacement. The 26-year-old has three caps and played 41 matches this season for the Bergamo club.
With Wesley sidelined, Flamengo veteran Danilo is expected to start on the right against the Atlas Lions.
