West Brom have received a timely lift with Karlan Grant, Chris Mepham and Tammer Bany back available for Saturday’s visit to Preston, giving James Morrison more options for the run-in.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the trio trained fully this week and are available for the squad, taking numbers to 23 and sharpening competition for places.

Grant and Mepham have been sidelined by serious hamstring injuries. Grant has not featured since the draw at Derby on 23 January, while Mepham has been out since the home stalemate against Stoke on 7 February.

Attacking midfielder Bany has barely figured, making five substitute appearances since arriving 14 months ago, and he underwent thigh surgery in the new year.

After a week dominated by headlines over the club’s EFL charge for an alleged financial breach, Morrison is focusing on collecting enough points from the final four fixtures to secure safety.

Academy graduate Harry Whitwell is set to miss the Preston game after a minor training knock.

Grant’s return is particularly timely given long-term issues in wide areas for him, Mikey Johnston and Jed Wallace. Morrison believes Grant had been at the top of his game before injury and values his leadership and voice in the dressing room for the run-in.
