This is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has claimed on his X account that Albion look set to bring the 19-year-old to The Hawthorns for the remainder of the season.

The Baggies have already secured one recruit heading into the final hours by taking Aston Villa prospect Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba on loan, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of a relegation battle.

They’ve also signed Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray until the end of the campaign, and now look set to complete a double swoop of talent from the Eagles.

Eric Ramsay’s men are certainly in need of some fresh faces in the attacking areas, with the club only scoring three goals and conceding 12 at the other end after his opening four games in charge.

The Black Country outfit are certainly taking a punt on youth player, but it could be the answer as they will have the opportunity to express themselves and put their name in lights on the Championship stage.

As per a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, the well-known journalist has claimed that West Brom are in talks to sign Crystal Palace youngster Hindolo Mustapha heading into the final hours of transfer deadline day.

The attacking midfielder has been on Crystal Palace’s books since 2015, breaking through to earn a professional contract in 2025.

He has mainly been involved in the Eagles' youth team, featuring in Premier League 2 last season, where he registered seven goals and four assists in 20 appearances.

The Sierra Leone midfielder spent a brief period of time in Germany with 2. Bundesliga side FC Nürnberg, but featured only twice and has since been back playing at Palace in their Premier League 2 setup.

But he looks set to get his first loan spell away in England and join a relegation battle at The Hawthorns, with massive pressure on his shoulders to step up and contribute towards the club retaining their second-tier status.

A big reason for West Brom’s rapid decline has been a lack of creativity.

Since Eric Ramsay arrived, Mikey Johnston has been chopped and changed between various positions, while Isaac Price has been badly out of form and was seen having an argument with the travelling supporters after their damaging 3-0 defeat at Portsmouth last weekend.

Meanwhile, Tammer Bany and Karlan Grant are expected to be on the treatment table for a number of months, so there had to be an addition to that area.

Mustapha is clearly an unknown quantity, with very little experience playing for either Crystal Palace or at a respectable level of professional football, so once again, it’s an almighty gamble to take and to put faith in such a young player who could well be out of his depth.

However, Albion have seen the potential and believe he could be the man to transform their fortunes, but he will have to win over the supporters given their discontent at some of the club's recruitment already this term, which has put them in a relegation-threatened position.
