According to ExpressAndStar.com, Albion have completed their first summer signing, paying £1.3m to bring Falkirk striker Barney Stewart to The Hawthorns on a four-year deal.

The London-born 22-year-old made his professional debut last year. He was spotted playing amateur football for Heriot Watt University after moving to Scotland to study sports science.

He hit 19 goals in his first full professional season, including 10 in the Scottish Premiership following a recall from a loan at Dunfermline.

That return attracted several English clubs, with Albion ultimately winning the chase for his signature. Stewart says he is excited by the challenge of the Championship and that being part of it will be incredible. He enjoys the frequency of games and regards it as one of the best leagues to watch.

He is confident he can score for Albion as he did for Dunfermline and Falkirk, and would love to replicate last season’s form, starting in pre-season.

Albion are also close to agreeing a deal with Chelsea for 20-year-old forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan.
