James Morrison says he has been checking in on Tammer Bany, aiming to help the West Brom attacker feel supported as he steps up his return.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Bany, 22, has been out since late December after thigh surgery, capping a difficult first year since a £3.3million move from Randers in his birth country Denmark.

He has made five substitute outings in 13 months, only one this season, a stoppage-time cameo in the 3-1 defeat at QPR on December 6. He declared for Jordan earlier in the season, who have qualified for this summer’s World Cup, and has played more for them than for Albion.

Back in training, Bany is eager to impress. “Tammer's very keen,” Morrison said, adding that his progress is being managed day to day.

He will not feature at Blackburn on Monday and it remains to be seen whether he is in contention to face high-flying Millwall next Friday night.

Bany trained through pre-season and played friendlies before pulling up against Dynamo Kyiv during Albion’s camp in Austria. He has been cited as a major recruitment failure under former sporting director and club president Andrew Nestor, who left in January.

Bany could yet play a role for the Baggies this season. The No.26 could also be Albion’s sole World Cup representative in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with Jordan expected to call if he is fit. “He's young, eager to impress, so it's important that I touch base with him and he feels the love,” Morrison said.
