West Ham United have announced the appointment of Rita Guarino who replaces Rehanne Skinner.
The Hammers dismissed Skinner last week with the club hovering above the relegation play-off spot with Guarino now the chosen successor.
The former Juventus and Internazionale manager has signed an 18-month contract with West Ham to keep her in charge until the end of the 2026/27 season.
"I’m so happy to be joining West Ham United", the former Italy international said about her appointment. "It is a Club with a big history and strong values that align with my own.
"I’ve spoken with the Board and I’m really excited by the project here. There is a lot of talent and experience in the team, and I want to support the girls to develop as individuals but also as a collective.
"I want to build a team that is organised, aggressive with the ball and that tries to recognise and use space. The mentality of the team – the togetherness and hard work – is the most important thing.
"I’m proud to be here and I’m looking forward to the chapter ahead in the best league in the world."
Stephen Kirby, who took charge of West Ham's 5-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, will remain a part of the coaching setup with Guarino having a tough start to life at the club when she oversees her first game in charge away to Chelsea on January 11th.
