The Netherlands international is attracting plenty of interest this summer.

It seems only a matter of time before West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville becomes the latest departure at the London Stadium.

A host of exits were expected in East London amid the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League and Mateus Fernandes kicked that off in spectacular fashion with a £85million move to Tottenham.

Summerville, who enjoyed a successful season despite the club's demotion to the Championship, has been attracting heaps of interest from the top flight and from overseas.

Now, there have been some significant developments regarding the Netherlands international's future, including details of a fresh bid.

After his debut season at the London Stadium was hampered by a hamstring injury, Summerville kicked on for West Ham, notching seven goals and five assists in all competitions.

There was already speculation around his future at the club before he travelled to the World Cup, where he made a significant contribution with two goals and three assists.

Since the Netherlands were dumped out of the tournament by Morocco in the Round of 32, interest has mounted, with Serie A side Roma lodging several bids that have fallen short of the Irons' valuation.

Details of a fresh bid from the Italian side have now been revealed, with I Giallorossi offering a combined £42.5million, which includes around £2.5m in bonuses, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Earlier in the month, it emerged that Aston Villa had discussed Summerville, although the club were feeling reluctant because of the potential fee he would require.

A fresh report from The Athletic states that the Dutchman is now a leading target, with multiple sources confirming to the publication that Villa have narrowed down that list to include him and Ibrahim Mbaye.

However, they add that the West Midlands club have also held talks with Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho and if they were to pursue him then that would likely affect their interest in Summerville.

Why Premier League move would be best for Summerville and West Ham

Given what Summerville has shown in the top flight and on the world stage, it feels a bit odd that he could be going to play in Italy.

Yes, there are obvious perks, as Roma secured Champions League football by finishing third, but it feels there could potentially be better options on the table for the winger.

A move to Villa would surely be more appealing, as not only did they qualify for the Champions League, but they also have a more recent history of success, having lifted the Europa League title last term.

Then there is the opportunity to work with one of Europe's best managers in Unai Emery, while one would assume there would be a better salary on offer at Villa Park.

Of course, the Villans may not be the only Premier League club considering a move for Summerville and maybe he and West Ham are holding out for something better.

For the Hammers, £42.5m still feels relatively cheap, considering they sold Fernandes for more than double that figure and given Summerville's position and potential, they would surely want at least £50m.
