West Ham United are eyeing a move for Irish striker Troy Parrott as a possible alternative to Sunderland's Wilson Isidor

West Ham United are targeting a new centre-forward to spearhead Nuno Espirito Santo's side back to the Premier League, and have identified two possible options to do so.

West Ham's slow start to the summer window rumbles on, with the Hammers yet to bring any fresh faces to the squad following relegation to the Championship for the first time in over 14 years.

New director of player recruitment Nils Koppen will have been working around the clock, drawing up a shortlist of potential targets, and conversing with Nuno over whom to pursue.

With both Mateus Fernandes collecting £85 million following his move to Tottenham Hotspur and Crysencio Summerville earning the Hammers some £60 million, money almost certainly isn't an issue for the East London outfit.

However, with just two weeks to go until West Ham travel to Turf Moor on the opening day of the Championship campaign, additions are a necessity, especially up top, as two potential centre-forward additions have emerged.

Heading into next season, Nuno has the likes of Taty Castellanos, Pablo Felipe, and Niclas Fullkrug to choose from as his centre-forward options, though none are guaranteed to be at the London Stadium by the end of the window.

As a result, Nuno is searching for a fresh alternative up top, and someone who can fire in 20-plus goals next campaign on West Ham's way back to the Premier League, as according to Alan Nixon, Sunderland's Wilson Isidor is an option to fill that role.

Isidor, 25, recently represented Haiti at the World Cup off the back of a year in the Premier League with Sunderland, where he lost his place up top to Brian Brobbey, and could be available for around £20 million this summer.

However, Nixon has also reported that AZ Alkmaar's Troy Parrott has emerged as a potential target, with the Hammers reportedly willing to go above £20 million to secure the Irishman's services this summer, something rival clubs are not.

Parrott, 24, scored 31 and grabbed 12 assists in 48 games across all competitions for AZ Alkmaar last season, as well as shining on the international stage with the Republic of Ireland, and has also attracted the interest of the likes of Fulham, Ajax, PSV, Real Betis, and Como.

Parrott made the move to the Netherlands initially with Excelsior in 2023, making the loan switch to Rotterdam after unsuccessful loan spells with the likes of Millwall, Ipswich Town, MK Dons, and Preston North End.

The Irishman would hit 17 and grab five assists in 32 appearances during his time in Rotterdam, and tempted AZ into a £6.7 million deal to bring the striker to the Netherlands permanently from Tottenham Hotspur, where he has since taken his game to the next level.

According to FotMob, Parrott scored 16 goals from 43 shots on target in the Eredivisie last season, whilst his 399 successful passes emphasise his ability to link up play and be a focal point, as well as his 49 defensive contributions displaying his willingness to defend from the front.

Since his switch to Alkmaar, Parrott has barely stopped scoring, with confidence flying high, as a return to London with West Ham could be on the cards.

Isidor, on the other hand, has just 19 goals in 82 games for Sunderland across two years on Wearside, and his potential £20 million price tag seems rather steep.

For just a few million more, Parrott would surely be a better option, and one Nuno will hope to confirm by the time they travel to Burnley in two weeks.
