West Ham United are losing faith in Nuno Espirito Santo’s ability to secure Premier League safety this season, per the Guardian. 

The Hammers are also unhappy with the 51-year-old’s behaviour following Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest. 

Nuno was spotted smiling at full-time and embracing some of his old players, despite West Ham suffering a demoralising defeat in front of their own fans.

He has lost the support of his squad due to concerns over his tactics and man management skills. 

Nuno took over in September after the club sacked Graham Potter following a disastrous start to the season. 

After several promising performances in November, the Hammers are on a 10-game winless run in the Premier League. 

West Ham are currently seven points away from safety in 18th place, but the club’s hierarchy are reluctant to fire Nuno and pay off a third manager in the space of 12 months. 

They have backed the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss in the winter transfer window. They have spent £25.2 million to sign Taty Castellanos, while Pablo Felipe’s transfer cost them £21.8m. 

West Ham will host Queens Park Rangers in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday ahead of a tricky Premier League visit to Tottenham Hotspur. 

Defeat against Spurs could force the hierarchy to act, and Slaven Bilic could return if Nuno is fired.
