West Ham are poised to make an early statement in the transfer window, closing in on a £20m deal to sign striker Pablo (21) from Portuguese side Gil Vicente, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a key target as the Hammers look to address their lack of firepower, with strengthening in attack identified as a clear priority. Pablo is expected to travel to the UK in the coming days to undergo a medical, with the deal edging towards completion before the weekend.

Pablo has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in the Primeira Liga, scoring 10 goals in 13 league appearances to establish himself as one of the division’s most promising young forwards. His form has attracted growing attention across Europe, but West Ham have moved swiftly to put themselves in pole position.

The move reflects a broader shift in West Ham’s recruitment strategy, combining immediate need with long-term potential. While Pablo appears close to joining, the club have continued to explore alternative options. Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen has been considered, though a £40m valuation, and interest from Nottingham Forest, has complicated that pursuit. Union Saint-Gilloise forward Promise David has also been monitored.

In addition to their search for a central striker, West Ham remain keen on Fulham winger Adama Traore as they look to add pace and power in wide areas.
