TEAMTalk and TBR Football have reported that West Ham United are interested in the services of Evan Ferguson. The club also faces competition from Arsenal, Everton, and Fulham for his signature. However, the Hammers are favourites to land the Brighton & Hove Albion striker in the winter transfer window, and they need to pay an amount in the range of £35-40 million to sign him.

Ferguson has shown his talent since playing for the first team of the Premier League side. However, this season, he has not managed much game time and has scored just one goal in the 14 games that he has played across competitions. However, he has still attracted the eyes of some of the best clubs in the world and West Ham are the most interested club.

Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen are on the sidelines for the Hammers. They have only Danny Inngs as the lone natural striker and hence are in need of a striker. Graham Potter sees Ferguson as the best option in the market to sign as the striker.

Why will he be a good signing for the Hammers?

Brighton & Hove Albion might allow the player to leave for the remainder of the season, but they will definitely insert a clause of £35-40 million for the Hammers to buy him at the end of the loan period. Ferguson, a young and dynamic striker from Brighton, exhibits a range of qualities that align well with West Ham United’s needs. At just 20, he combines physical prowess with technical finesse, capable of both holding up play and making incisive movements into the box.

His versatility to play in multiple forward positions is a trait that could thrive under Graham Potter, who has worked with him before. West Ham’s current striker situation, with injuries and ageing players, presents Ferguson with an opportunity for regular first-team action, crucial for his development. His previous performances under Potter suggest a potential seamless integration into West Ham’s squad.

The Hammers are 14th in the Premier League points table with 27 points in 23 matches. Signing Ferguson could help them perform better in the second half of the competition and push for a European spot for the next season. It remains to be seen if the move of Ferguson to West Ham goes through or not.
