At just 17 years old, Pedro Fernandez ‘Dro’ has already made his mark with the Barcelona first team this season, featuring against Real Sociedad and Olympiacos.

The La Masia gem’s flashes of creativity and confidence have not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona moving to secure his long-term future even though he is under contract until 2027.

Meanwhile, Dro’s talent has made him a target for scouts across Europe as well.

West Ham United eyeing Dro

Indeed, according to journalist Alan Nixon (h/t Mundo Deportivo), West Ham United have identified Dro as a potential signing to help reverse their poor start to the Premier League campaign.

The Hammers’ scouts have been following Dro closely and are preparing a formal offer for the January transfer window.

West Ham are currently second from bottom, with only four points from nine matches, and recently replaced Graham Potter with Nuno Espirito Santo in a bid to turn things around.

Now, the Londoners have identified Dro as a possible target to help turn their fortunes around and pull away from the relegation zone. They want to act fast before his market value rises further in the coming months.

According to Transfermarkt, Dro’s current market value stands at €5 million, though that figure is expected to rise quickly if he continues his current trajectory, as has happened with several La Masia prospects in recent seasons.

The La Masia youngster’s flair and creativity could inject new life into West Ham. But convincing him to leave Barcelona’s project to fight for survival in England will be no easy task.

It must also be noted that Premier League heavyweights Manchester City are also showing interest in Dro, given his limitless potential. So, the teenage gem might have a big decision to make regarding his future soon.
