West Ham travel to Villa Park today aiming to secure a vital victory that could move them out of the Premier League relegation zone for the first time since November.

The Hammers have moved into a positive vein of form under manager Nuno Espírito Santo, collecting 15 points from their last nine games—more than they had in their first 21 fixtures combined.

Following a disciplined draw against Manchester City last weekend, West Ham arrive in the West Midlands with high confidence, looking to exploit an Aston Villa side that has lost three straight league matches.

West Ham team news

Nuno Espírito Santo manages a squad dealing with one high-profile absence but otherwise boasting a clean bill of health. Notably, Crysencio Summerville is definitely ruled out tonight with a calf injury.

Consequently, the manager may stick with the conservative wing-back system that frustrated City, or revert to a back four with Adama Traoré providing the pace on the break.

Notably, Jarrod Bowen remains the talisman; he has been involved in seven goals in his last eight appearances and could become only the second West Ham player to assist in four consecutive Premier League games tonight.

Callum Wilson also provides a major threat on the road, where his conversion rate (25%) is significantly higher than at the London Stadium.

Mads Hermansen will start in goal, behind a defence likely to feature Konstantinos Mavropanos and Axel Disasi.

In midfield, Tomas Soucek and Soungoutou Magassa will look to stifle Villa’s creative units, while Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals provide the service for Valentín Castellanos.

Notably, despite having a league-high 32 players feature this season, West Ham have seen only 10 different goal scorers—the fewest in the Premier League.

They will look to change that tonight against a Villa defence that has conceded nine goals in its last three league matches.
