‘What a player’ – Pep Guardiola hails Real Madrid star after UCL clash | OneFootball

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has revealed his appreciation for the talents of Real Madrid star Rodrygo on Wednesday evening.

This comes fresh off the Brazilian conjuring up his finest individual performance in recent memory.

Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, welcoming Man City to Spain’s capital for a Champions League clash.

When all was said and done, Los Blancos were condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, making it just two wins from their last eight in all competitions.

And yet, one shining light on an otherwise disappointing evening for Real all told was the display put forth by Rodrygo.

The Brazilian was in scintillating form throughout the 90 minutes on Wednesday, gliding beyond tackles, creating chances, and looking a real bright spark for the hosts.

Not only that, but, crucially, he also brought an end to a 32-match dry streak in front of goal.

And as alluded to above, one individual who could not help but be impressed by such exploits was Pep Guardiola.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Bernabéu, Manchester City’s headmaster gushed:

“Top! Rodrygo is… what a player!”
