According to L'Équipe, Michou’s tie-up with M6 was billed as a way to reach younger fans, yet weeks into the World Cup his presence on the channel remains discreet.
At France’s 3-1 win over Senegal he posted three pieces: a room video from New York with predictions, a short MetLife Stadium vlog showing stands, food stalls, pitchside and toilets, and a selfie reaction from behind the goal.
The vlog and reaction ran only on M6’s platforms, not his, prompting questions over the lack of collaborative posts. For the 3-0 win against Iraq, similar clips also appeared on his TikTok. Nothing went on Instagram because the platform has no FIFA deal for this tournament, and M6 declined to explain its approach.
The metrics are strong. First-match content cleared 500,000 views, while his France v Iraq reaction hit 2.2 million, among M6’s better TikTok returns. Some viewers, notably non-followers of Michou, still doubt the format’s relevance and added value.
He will miss the United States leg for the next match against Norway due to a Paris trip for Lay’s, though he should keep producing from France. With France already in the last 16, opportunities remain. Whether the partnership can grow without him on site is unclear.
