We looked at Jamie Vardy's net worth amid reports linking him with Rangers and Wrexham following his departure from Leicester City.
Striker Jamie Vardy is currently on the hunt for a new club after his departure from Leicester City.
Vardy joined Leicester from then non-league side Fleetwood Town for a fee of just £1 million in May 2012 in a deal that will surely go down as one of the biggest bargains in English football history.
The 38-year-old enjoyed an illustrious 13-year spell at the King Power Stadium, during which he won the Premier League title, the FA Cup, the Community Shield and two Championship titles, as well as featuring for the Foxes in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League and collecting a host of individual accolades.
In an emotional video posted on social media, Vardy announced that he would be leaving Leicester at the end of his contract this summer, and he scored his 200th goal for the club on his final appearance in a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in May.
Vardy insisted that he will continue playing next season and has no plans to retire, but over a month on from his Foxes exit, he is yet to find a new club, and speculation about his possible next move is continuing to gather pace.
After Vardy announced his departure from Leicester, The Sun claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers were the front-runners to land his signature, but talk of a potential move to Molineux seems to have cooled in recent weeks.
West Ham United were also said to be keen on Vardy, along with newly-promoted duo Leeds United and Burnley, and he has reportedly even been offered to Manchester United, but despite the fact that the striker is hoping to remain in the Premier League, there do not seem to be any top flight offers on the table for him as things stand.
Vardy has been linked with ambitious Championship newcomers Wrexham, while Scottish giants Rangers are also said to be among his admirers, and manager Russell Martin refused to shut down the speculation when quizzed about the former England international's possible arrival at Ibrox following his side's 2-2 pre-season draw with Club Brugge on Sunday.
"I think I've been asked about so many players," Martin said, quoted by talkSPORT.
"Some miles away, some on the money. So, basically, I'm not going to give you an answer on that. But I guess you'll find out who's real and who's not in the next few weeks."
However, while there is a chance that Wrexham or Rangers could be Vardy's next destination, it seems he will not be making the move to Italy after Genoa manager Patrick Vieira reportedly blocked a deal for the ex-Leicester man, despite sporting director Flavio Ricciardella being in favour of the transfer.
As Vardy continues his search for a new club, we looked at his estimated net worth.
Having built up significant wealth during his football career, Vardy is estimated to have a personal net worth of £9 million.
According to Capology, Vardy was earning £140,000 per week and £7,280,000 per year at Leicester, although it should be stressed that those figures are an estimate.
That made Vardy the Foxes' highest-paid player by quite some distance, with the striker receiving significantly more than some of the club's other top earners, including Harry Winks (£90,000 per week), Ricardo Pereira and Boubakary Soumare (both £80,000 per week) and Conor Coady, Wilfred Ndidi and Patson Daka (all £75,000 per week).
However, Vardy has not only established his fortune through his exploits on the pitch as he has also been involved in a number of business ventures, including setting up the V9 Academy, which aims to help non-league players gain contracts at professional clubs, just as he did when he joined Leicester from Fleetwood back in 2012.
Vardy also purchased a minority stake in US side Rochester New York in June 2021, but the club pulled out of the MLS Next Pro league in March 2023 for financial reasons, and he later revealed that he did not pay for his share and the move was only designed to create publicity.
