Mohamed Salah is set to play his final match for Liverpool on Sunday, 24 May – but that could change if the Reds reach the Champions League final.
The 33-year-old Egyptian announced on Tuesday night that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on a nine-year stay in which he won every major club trophy.
Yet Salah is still fighting for silverware this season. While the Premier League is out of reach for the defending champions, Champions League and FA Cup glory are still up for grabs.
As it stands, Salah’s final match for the club will be Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season, at Anfield, against Brentford on Sunday, 24 May. No matter what, this will be his Anfield farewell.
However, if Liverpool reach the Champions League final, then Salah’s last game for the club could be the showpiece match on Saturday, 30 May in Budapest.
The FA Cup final takes place on Saturday, 16 May at Wembley.
Liverpool face Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on 4 April before a two-legged quarter-final tie against defending champions PSG in the Champions League.
Salah’s first home game after his exit announcement will be the Premier League clash against Fulham on Saturday, 11 April.
“Hello, everyone. Unfortunately the day has come,” Salah said in a message posted on social media. “This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

“I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, this people, would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit. I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club.
“We celebrated victory, we won the most important trophies, and we fought together through the hardest time in our life.
“I want to thank everyone who was part of this club throughout my time here, especially the teammates, past and present, and to the fans… I don’t have enough words: the support you showed me through the best time of my career and you stood by me in the toughest times, it’s something I will never forget. And something I will take with me always.
“Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life, I will be always one of you. This club will always be my home to me and to my family. Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”
