Christian Gunter (2,305 mins), Noah Atubolu (2.025) and Mathias Ginter (2,021) lead the way for Julian Schuster’s team, while Max Rosenfelder (1,047) and Nicolas Hofler (796) also feature heavily.

As for Die Nullfuenfers, Robin Zentner (2,460 mins) hasn’t missed a minute, followed by Paul Nebel (1,778), Jonathan Burkardt (1,543), Stefan Bell (1,258) and Nelson Weiper (506).

With the Breisgauers fifth in the table and Mainz punishing for a Champions League spot in third, perhaps it’s the way to go for success.

In total Freiburg have given 8,411 minutes to homegrown stars, Mainz are second (7545) while TSG Hoffenheim take bronze with 5962 minutes amassed.

Bayern Munich (5692) narrowly trail the Sinsheimers but eclipse Borussia Dortmund’s 3737 minutes. The likes of Gladbach (3097), Leverkusen (2909), Wolfsburg (2005) and Bochum (1572) round off the four-digit amounts.

Union Berlin has offered up 969 minutes to their local players, with Augsburg (716), Heidenheim (420), Werder Bremen (272) and RB Leipzig (23) trailing behind.

Interestingly, neither of St.Pauli or VfB Stuttgart have issued a single minute to squad members from their respective academy paths.
