Arne Slot has warned the Liverpool fans not to expect another record-breaking summer spend. Liverpool broke transfer records last summer to become the first club in history to breach a £400m spend in a single window.
Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz were among the headline arrivals at Anfield, but Slot has cast doubt on another significant spend. The Dutchman has insisted that Liverpool will need to sell before buying in 2026.
"Now we are losing Mo (Salah) and Andy Robertson on a free transfer, as we lost Trent (Alexander-Arnold) on a free transfer," Slot said toAmazon Prime.
"This model of the club means we have to sell, usually, to buy. It's a big challenge. It already was last season and it's going to be in the summer again. But this club has also shown many times that this model works, and we can be very successful with this model. I think we've signed very good, talented players.
"Let's hope that they're all fit as they go into their second season in thePremier League. As I've said many times, the future looks really good, especially if we can add a few good signings, with good players also leaving this summer."
Salah and Robertson are confirmed exits on freetransfers, while Ibrahima Konate is yet to sign an extension to his deal that expires in July.
But who else could Liverpool sell to raise funds for their rebuild? We've profiled the names whose sales could be sanctioned.
An obvious exit, with Chiesa's move to Merseyside having proven to be a frustrating experience. The Italian was viewed as a market opportunity as Juventus sought his sale in 2024, with a fee in the region of £10m deemed a gamble worth taking.
The winger has failed to earn the trust of Arne Slot and has played only 382 minutes ofPremier League football across almost two seasons. A return to Serie A looks likely.
Another wide-man whose season has been a disaster. Harvey Elliott joined Aston Villa in search of regular football last summer but has been on the periphery all season.
He's played just 110 minutes in the Premier League, with Aston Villa excluding him from squads in a bid to avoid a mandatory purchase of around £35m. Liverpool will hope a season on the sidelines has not dented that valuation too much.
The veteran midfielder has struggled for favour since Slot's appointment as manager, having earned cult hero status during his debut season at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
At 33, Endo does not feature in the long-term planning and several Bundesliga sides are keen on the ex-Stuttgart star.
Joe Gomez saw an Anfield exit blocked last summer with AC Milan among the teams keen. The defender's deal will have 12 months to run in the summer and a transfer looks probable.
Gomez has been a fine servant for Liverpool, winning eight trophies in over a decade with the club. However, he will turn 29 in May and may feel now is the time to become a first-team fixture elsewhere.
Though not alone in the Liverpool squad, Alexis Mac Allister has struggled to replicate last season's level. The Argentina international's form has been a concern and there's an argument that Liverpool could consider big bids.
With the Premier League perhaps more physical than ever before, could the Reds view the talented, but athletically limited, midfielder disposable? Real Madrid are understood to be admirers.
