Stourbridge-born England midfielder Jude Bellingham has six goals at the 2026 World Cup, including both in the 2-1 quarter-final win over Norway on Saturday, 11 July. Much attention has also turned to his father, Mark.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Mark Bellingham, 50, was born in Southend and later moved to the West Midlands. A prolific non-league striker, he scored more than 700 goals and became widely respected outside the professional game.
He played for Stourbridge, Sutton Coldfield Town and Wolverhampton Casuals. His career began in the mid-80s and was almost ended in 2001 by a second torn cruciate ligament, yet he carried on.
By the late 2010s he had left non-league football and turned to veterans' tournaments. His final club was Southam United in 2017.
Away from the pitch he served with West Midlands Police, rising to sergeant, and is now retired.
After leaving the force, Mark and his wife Denise focused on guiding Jude and Jobe. When Jude left Birmingham City at 17 to join Borussia Dortmund in 2020, Denise moved with him while Mark stayed with Jobe.
In 2023 Jude joined Real Madrid and Jobe signed for Sunderland. Mark then moved to the north east with Jobe, while Denise went to Spain with Jude.
Jobe has said their parents taught him how to treat people by example, and that hard work and graft were values he picked up from them. England look all the richer for those efforts this year.
