Man City face the Hammers on Saturday night seeking to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Furthermore, City are hoping for a return to winning ways in the Premier League after being held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest over a week ago which saw them fall seven points behind leaders Arsenal.

However, Man City’s preparations for the game at the London Stadium have been disrupted with Guardiola unable to take his seat in the dugout.

As the ban only applies to Premier League and FA Cup games, it means Guardiola is suspended for West Ham and City's FA Cup quarter-final clash against Liverpool on April 4.

The Spaniard, though, fulfilled his media duties ahead of the West Ham clash but will hand over responsibilities of managing the side on Saturday to his assistant Lijnders.

This was the case earlier in the season when Guardiola served a one-match touchline ban in the FA Cup third round tie against Exeter where City thumped the League One side 10-1.

When discussing the incident that resulted in the costly yellow card at St. James Park, Guardiola said: “I will tell you something - we have all the records in this country, all of them, despite everything

“We have the record of the manager with the most yellow cards. I want all records and now I have it, two-game ban now and I will go on holidays the next two games.

“There are things after 10 years I cannot understand. Review the action. Of course I'm going to defend Doku and all my teams.”
