Corinthians have opened a second successive Brazilian transfer window barred from registering players, with the club mired in the most severe financial crisis of its recent history.

According to Globo.com, there are three active transfer bans and no short-term resolution, with punishments recurring since the tenures of former presidents Duilio Monteiro Alves and Augusto Melo.

In the window that began on 5 January, Corinthians were blocked over debts to Santos Laguna for Félix Torres and a late CNRD instalment at the CBF. Using prize money from their Copa do Brasil title, they paid R$ 33.4 million to the Mexican club, lifting a FIFA ban, and prepaid the third CNRD instalment of R$ 7.2 million.

That cleared the way to register seven additions: Gabriel Paulista, Kaio César, Allan, Matheus Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Pedro Milans and Zakaria Labyad.

This time there is no new cash expected, and the board are working to pay June image rights on Monday to avoid two months in arrears.

With a six-month CBF ban for repeated CNRD delays, plus FIFA sanctions, registering reinforcements now looks remote, and a deal for forward Wesley is unlikely to be finalised.

An exception could be Memphis Depay, whose contract runs to 31 July and could be extended as a continuation of his existing agreement. He is on holiday and discussing terms.

The window opened on Monday and will remain open until 11 September.
