The West Yorkshire side made some exciting additions in the winter transfer window, including that of former Plymouth striker Ryan Hardie, who moved to the Accu Stadium on loan from Wrexham.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield lost top scorer Leo Castledine, who was recalled from his loan spell by Chelsea and sold to Championship title challengers Middlesbrough.

Manning is now vying to steer his new squad to the League One play-offs, and the Terriers can strengthen their grip on a top-six spot with a victory over Blackpool this Saturday.

Manning has enjoyed a successful start to life as Huddersfield boss, earning consecutive victories over West Yorkshire rivals Bradford City, Luton Town, and Peterborough United.

Meanwhile, discussing the Terriers' decision to let Kane join Plymouth on loan, the 40-year-old told the Yorkshire Post: "I had the chat with Herbie prior to the interest, to be fair. I think it's really important. We all like clarity and honesty. I had that chat with Herbie around only where he was at, and some of that is through no fault of his own, obviously, because of injuries.

"Naturally, when you're coming back, you are catching up with the people ahead of you that have been playing, fit and sharp. But Herbie's got some qualities I really like.

"It might be tough to get minutes. There's no doubting he could potentially force his way in, but that might take four games. It might take 10. There's no guarantee it happens.

"So, for me, it was a sensible decision for him to go and get games and get sharp and prove a point. He's someone that I'll follow closely, stay in touch with and continue to monitor."

Herbie Kane can be a real asset for Plymouth Argyle following Huddersfield Town exit

Manning's decision to allow Kane to join Plymouth for the rest of the season makes sense from a Huddersfield point of view, as he has not appeared for the Terriers since their 3-1 defeat to Bradford in mid-September, having undergone groin surgery.

While the 27-year-old continues to recover from his previous injury, Manning can rely on other talented midfielders such as Marcus McGuane and Ryan Ledson, who have what it takes to help their club finish in the League One play-offs.

In contrast, Plymouth are just six points clear of the third-tier relegation zone, and four teams below Tom Cleverley's side have games in hand on them.

Therefore, Argyle need all the help they can get, which is something that Kane can provide.

The midfielder produced a return of three goals and five assists for Huddersfield last term, and made an even better account of himself in his final season with his former club Barnsley, scoring 10 goals and producing five assists across all competitions.

Plymouth could be dragged closer to the drop zone this Saturday, as they face a tricky encounter with automatic promotion contenders Lincoln City, who have enjoyed a three-game winning streak.
