Harvey Barnes says his Newcastle team-mates must stay positive despite conceding late on to draw with Barcelona in the Champions League.
Barnes put his side in front in the second half but a late Lamine Yamal penalty ensured both sides go to Barcelona for the second leg level.
“We do,” Barnes responded when asked about the belief that Newcastle can go there and win.
“It’s a little setback tonight tonight but we’ve had a lot of setbacks in the last few seasons and we’ve always bounced back so well from them.
“So many positives from tonight that we can’t let that one little moment knock us back and it won’t.
“It’s going to be a difficult game and a different game away from home but we’ve got the self belief and the characters in the squad to go there full of confidence after tonight and the previous game against them.
“Why not?”
Barnes says his side’s performance can give them enormous encouragement going into the end of the season.
“Obviously we got ourselves ahead in the game which was amazing,” he said. “You could really feel that we had real control and that self belief to go and win the game.
“A lapse in concentration at the end. It’s a disappointing one to concede so late on but we’re halfway through the tie and we’re level. It’s all to play for so we can’t look at the negatives too much.”
