City’s defender started and completed the fixture at right-back in what proved to be a five-goal thriller in their final assignment during the winter pause in domestic action.

Austria took the lead inside the first minute when Sophie Hillebrand scored her first senior international goal when drilling home from the edge of the area.

But Ukraine flipped the match on its head by the 18th minute with goals from Nicole Kozlova who found the net from close range ahead of Roksolana Kravchuk’s composed finish into the bottom right corner.

After a breathless opening 20 minutes the game’s fourth goal arrived before half-time when Ukraine’s Yana Kotyk unfortunately turned into her own net to level the scores once again.

The match remained in the balance heading into the interval, but the decisive action would arrive shortly after the restart when Olha Ovdiichuk restored Ukraine’ lead.

Austria then pushed for an equaliser which saw Wienrother’s effort from the edge of the area saved, but another leveller evaded them before full-time.

Elsewhere, Gracie Prior started for England Under-23s as they lost 4-2 to USA U23 at Accrington’s WHAM Stadium.

Emeri Adames opened the scoring for the United States when she rounded off a well-orchestrated move with a composed finish from close range and Madeline Dahlien doubled the visitors’ lead with a shot from range which looped into the net via a deflection.

Shortly after the break, the Young Lionesses halved the deficit when Southampton’s Jessica Simpson’s in-swinging free-kick evaded everyone inside the box and snuck into the net.

But Sarah Weber restored the USA’s two-goal lead shortly after when she met a low cross and directed her effort past Faye Kirby.

Undeterred, England U23 handed themselves a lifeline when Fiona Barry reduced the visitors’ lead, however, the United States once again pulled further ahead through Allyson Sentnor with her strike the final of the night.
