Several FC Bayern players were in action for their national teams on Saturday night and in the early hours of Sunday morning, from World Cup qualifiers to friendlies. fcbayern.com rounds up the results:
Thanks to the winning goal two minutes before the end of regular time, Luis Díaz and the Colombian national team secured a 2-1 home victory in a friendly match against New Zealand on Saturday night. The German record champions’ winger played 64 minutes in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His team took an early lead through former Leverkusen player Gustavo Puerta (3rd minute), before Ben Old equalised from a pass by former Bayern player Sarpreet Singh (80’). In the end, however, it was the Colombians who celebrated: after a long ball from his own half, Johan Carbonero poked the ball past the opposing keeper to make it 2-1 (88’). Díaz and Co have already secured their ticket to next year's World Cup finals, and will face Australia in another friendly match in New York on Wednesday (2:00 CET).

Luis Díaz (here in a duel with ex-Bayern player Sarpreet Singh) was heavily involved in attack as usual.
Konrad Laimer and the Austrian national team are on the verge of their first World Cup appearance since 1998 after beating Cyprus 2-0 in Limassol on Saturday. Our number 27 played the full 90 minutes against the island state and did his job at left-back. In attack, Marco Arnautovic was the match-winner with both goals (18’ pen, 55’). Coach Ralf Rangnick’s men will seal qualification for the global tournament if they avoid defeat at home to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday in Vienna (20:45 CET).

Konrad Laimer is well versed in the left-back position and played there for his national team this time.
Nicolas Jackson and Senegal suffered a 2-0 defeat in a friendly against Brazil in London on Saturday. The FCB forward came on in the 49th minute with his side already trailing to two first-half goals from Estevao (28’) and Casemiro (35’). The Lions of Teranga, who have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup, play another friendly against Kenya in Aksu, Türkiye on Tuesday (16:00).

Not even the introduction of Nicolas Jackson could prevent Senegal's defeat to Brazil.
In the second match of the Four Nations Tournament in Wales, the German U19 team drew 2-2 against Japan having led 1-0 at the break. Bayern goalkeeper Leon Klanac was not involved. After the opening defeat to USA, the German youngsters are aiming for their first win of the tournament against hosts Wales on Tuesday (12:00 CET).
