Julen Lopetegui replaced him in November 2022 with Wolves bottom, steering them to 13th. He departed days before the following season’s opener against Manchester United after differences of opinion created a rift with the club.

Gary O’Neil took charge in August 2023. The following season he delivered 14th, with wins over Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals. He left after a 2-1 home loss to Ipswich Town, the fourth straight league defeat and 11th in 16, with Wolves 19th and four points behind fourth-bottom Crystal Palace.

Vitor Pereira arrived in December 2024 and, after a strong finish that spawned his points then pints rallying call, signed a new three-year deal in September. He was sacked after 10 winless Premier League matches, the 3-0 defeat by Fulham an eighth loss that left Wolves bottom.

Rob Edwards was appointed from Middlesbrough on a three-and-a-half-year contract in November 2025. A boyhood Wolves fan, the 43-year-old was dismissed this week following relegation, a surprise given indications he was hired to build a side capable of bouncing back from the Championship next season.
