Wolves have completed the free-transfer signing of Kieran Trippier, the 54-cap England international, on a two-year contract with an option of a further year after his Newcastle deal expired following a four-year spell.

It signals an ambitious squad rebuild as Wolves chase an immediate Premier League return from the Championship. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club are closing in on re-signing Raul Jimenez after extending Andre’s deal, and they trust head coach Rob Edwards to lead a return.

Chairman Nathan Shi said he was delighted Trippier had chosen Wolves, praising his quality, leadership and will to win. He believes the defender’s experience in the Premier League, Champions League and with England will be invaluable in the Championship.

Shi added that the signing underlines the club’s ambition and that Trippier’s professionalism, character and high standards can help drive Wolves forward.

Technical director Matt Jackson said Trippier was their number one target and that landing him early in the window was vital so plans could be set and he could start on day one of pre-season.

Jackson credited a joint effort with Edwards and Shi, and said Trippier had bought into the project and the pull of the club and its supporters.
