The Blues return to winning ways in the Premier League following midweek defeat
Cole Palmer’s historic first-half hat-trick helped Chelsea secure a latest Premier League win under Liam Rosenior as the Blues beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux. Saturday’s victory was Chelsea’s fourth in as many league games under Rosenior, who becomes just the second-ever English manager to achieve such a feat during his opening four outings as a top-flight boss in the competition.
For Palmer, meanwhile, two calmly converted penalties - both won by Joao Pedro - were added to by a rifled finish in the 38th minute that made the fit-again star the first player in Premier League history to net three hat-tricks in the first half of a match, having previously done so against Everton and Brighton in 2024. He also pulls clear of club legends Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with this being his fourth league treble in total for the Blues.
Chelsea faded following that prolific opening period, allowing Wolves to pull one back shortly after the interval, but although the hosts huffed and puffed - rattling the woodwork at one point shortly before their goal - they were unable to stop Rosenior’s men returning to London with a crucial three points in their hunt for a top-four spot.
