Germany lost to England in the final of Euro 2022 but remain the most successful nation in the tournament’s history by a wide margin, with eight titles to their name.

They face tough competition from Sweden who have reached the semi-finals of the last three major international tournaments.

The dark horse of the group is Denmark, who reached the final of Euro 2017. Denmark failed to advance from the group stage at Euro 2022 but reached the knockout phase at the 2023 World Cup.

Poland are massive underdogs after qualifying for their first major tournament via the playoffs, despite losing all six of their group games.

Here, we take a look at the key players of each Group C side, as well as their potential breakout stars and their tournament odds – according to the best UK betting sites. We’ll also reveal when Group C’s fixtures will take place and give our predictions for how the group could unfold.

Women’s Euro 2025 Group C guide

Denmark

  • Manager – Andree Jeglertz
  • Captain – Pernille Harder
  • Best-ever Euros finish – Runner-up (2017)
  • FIFA World ranking – 12th

The first team in our Women’s Euro 2025 Group C guide is Denmark, who reached the final at Euro 2017.

Denmark are capable of causing a surprise, and they qualified for Euro 2025 after finishing second in their group behind Spain.

However, recent results have been disappointing – including a 6-1 defeat to Sweden in the Nations League.

This will be the only tournament under Andree Jeglertz. The Swede was appointed after the 2023 World Cup, but will be replaced by Jakob Michelson after the Euros.

One to watch: Pernille Harder – The Denmark team is built around their captain and record goalscorer. The Bayern Munich forward has 78 goals for her country and the 32-year-old is deadly with the ball at her feet running at the opposition defence.

Breakout star: Josefine Hasbo – The 23-year-old midfielder has impressed in the United States scoring 25 goals and providing 17 assists in 55 appearances for Harvard Crimson. She recently signed a contract with National Women’s Soccer League side Gotham FC.

Last Women’s Euros Campaign: Group stage – Denmark crashed out of a tough group at Euro 2022, losing 4-0 to finalists Germany and 1-0 to Spain.

Odds to win the tournament: 20/1

PredictionGroup stage – Denmark will need to beat Poland and secure a positive result against either Sweden or Germany to advance from the group stage. They have the potential to pull off a surprise, but recent results suggest they may exit at the group stage.

Germany

  • Manager – Christian Wuck
  • Captain – Giulia Gwinn
  • Best-ever Euros finish – Winners (1989, 1991, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013)
  • FIFA World ranking – 3rd

Germany have a stunning record in the Women’s European Championship, winning the tournament eight out of 13 times.

However, they have not won the trophy since 2013 and shockingly exited at the group stage of the 2023 World Cup.

Since then, Germany have shown significant improvement, cruising through the qualifying process. They also won their last five Nations League games, scoring at least four goals in each match.

Christian Wück’s side are behind Spain and England in the bookmakers’ odds and are without influential midfielder Lena Oberdorf. However, with their history in the competition, Germany always believe they are contenders.

One to watch: Lea Schuller – The Bayern Munich striker has a stunning goal rate on the international scene with 52 goals in 75 appearances.

Breakout star: Franziska Kett– The 20-year-old just missed out on our list of the 10 young players to watch out for at Women’s Euro 2025. However, she could still be on for a breakthrough tournament despite being played out of position at left-back.

Last Women’s Euros Campaign: Final – Germany lost out in extra-time to England in the Euro 2022 final. It was the first time in nine occasions that Germany have been beaten in the final.

Odds to win the tournament: 5/1

PredictionFinal – If Germany win Group C, they might avoid playing Spain or England until the final – provided they win their respective groups. A lot will depend on what happens in Group D as Germany would look likely to face one of England, France or the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.

Poland

  • Manager – Nina Patalon
  • Captain – Ewa Pajor
  • Best-ever Euros finish – N/A
  • FIFA World ranking – 27th

Poland are making their debut in the Women’s European Championship and it would be a huge surprise if they get out of the group stage.

Nina Patalon’s side lost all six of their qualifying matches but made it to Euro 2025 by defeating Romania and Austria during the playoffs.

Poland are on a seven-game unbeaten run but they will face a much higher calibre of opposition in Group C.

One to watch: Ewa Pajor – Poland’s big hope is the Barcelona striker who scored an incredible 43 goals in 45 games during the 2024-25 season. She is arguably the most lethal finisher at the tournament but may be quiet if her teammates struggle to deliver the ball into the box.

Breakout star: Emilia Szymczak– The 20-year-old is one of the best young defenders in European football. Poland’s defenders are likely to be kept busy this summer which will give her a chance to stand out.

Last Women’s Euros Campaign: Final – N/A

Odds to win the tournament: 200/1

Prediction: Group stage – Simply making Euro 2025 is an achievement in itself for Poland. Of course, they will have hopes of reaching the knockout phase, but they could struggle to get the ball up to their prolific striker Ewa Pajor.

Sweden

  • Manager –  Peter Gerhardsson
  • Captain – Kosovare Asllani
  • Best-ever Euros finish – Winners (1984)
  • FIFA World ranking – 6th

Sweden are one of the most consistent international sides in Europe, reaching the semi-finals of the last three major championships.

Peter Gerhardsson’s side finished behind France and England in the qualifying process. However, they breezed through the playoffs process beating Luxembourg 12-0 on aggregate and Serbia 8-0 over two legs.

Their form going into Euro 2025 has been mixed. They were held to two draws by Wales, but thrashed Group C rivals Denmark 6-1.

Sweden are a potential contender but it remains to be seen whether they have the technical quality to outplay the best sides in this competition.

One to watch: Stina Blackstenius –The Arsenal striker is fresh off her Champions League final winner last month and scored a hat-trick in the victory over Denmark. Sweden have a dangerous front two in Blackstenius and Kosovare Asllani.

Breakout star: Ellen Wangerheim– The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals in 10 for Hammarby in 2025 and has caught the interest of WSL sides including Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Last Women’s Euros Campaign: Semi-finals – Sweden reached the semi-finals of Euro 2022 where they suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to England.

Odds to win the tournament: 14/1

Prediction: Quarter-finals – Sweden’s clash with Denmark will likely decide who advances from the group stage. A quarter-final exit would be disappointing for Sweden after reaching the semi-finals in the last three tournaments, especially as they are likely to face a tough quarter-final against England, France, or the Netherlands.
