The French women’s game has welcomed the signing of a collective agreement for professional players, hailed as strengthening protection and day-to-day security.

According to L'Équipe, it was marked at the LFFP Trophies at the Pavillon Gabriel on Monday, widely viewed as historic, though PSG players and France captain Griedge Mbock were absent.

Paris FC’s Mylène Chavas, named goalkeeper of the season, called it a big step and extra protection, especially for those breaking through, and urged continued progress to grow the game in France.

FFF president Philippe Diallo said the signature is a major step in structuring, promoting and protecting the professional pathway, and believes it starts a new era with a regulated framework and stronger social protection.

Ligue féminine de football professionnel president Jean-Michel Aulas said the convention is due to take effect from one July, noting clubs had already offered social benefits but an agreement on image rights had been missing.

The collective image-rights deal should let players, particularly at smaller clubs, top up income because these payments are kept separate from salaries, a point echoed by UNFP vice-president Fabien Safanjon.

Coach of the season Nicolas Chabot said it can help secure less resourced teams, while warning the ecosystem remains fragile. Preparing to leave Nantes with a year left, he stressed the need for stability to protect livelihoods.
