U.S President Donald Trump's officially announced that the draw for the 2026 World cup will be staged on 5 Dec in Washington, D.C.

A historic stage for the draw

Speaking at the White House alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Trump confirmed that the prestigious event will be hosted at the Kennedy Center, one of the capital’s main cultural landmarks.

Trump hailed the World cup as the "biggest sporting event" and described it as honor for the U.S to welcome the world’s elite football nations.

The 2026 World cup will run from 11 Jun to 19 Jul across the United States, Mexico and Canada. For the first time, the finals will feature 48 team, divided into 12 group.

Teams already qualified

By the time of the draw, 42 nation will have secured their spots while the remaining 6 places will be decided in intercontinental playoffs scheduled for Mar 2026.

So far the host nations (USA, Mexico and Canada)'re joined by Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Iran, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, South Korea and Uzbekistan.
