World Cup 2026: Infantino congratulates Algeria on their qualification
FIFA President Gianni Infantino warmly congratulated the Algerian national team after their official qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. In a message posted on Instagram, the Swiss official praised the "Fennecs" for their achievement and highlighted their rich legacy on the global stage. He recalled their memorable run at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, marked by their historic victory over South Korea and their advancement to the round of 16,
"one of the most significant moments in your history," he emphasized.
Infantino also stressed the importance of this return to the top:
"For the fifth time in your history, your anthem will echo on the international stage and your players will shine like global stars."
He considered this qualification to be
"the result of long-term collective work, the determination of the players, the commitment of the technical staff, and the constant support of the Federation."
Finally, the FIFA president extended his best wishes to Algeria for the next edition of the World Cup, stating that the Greens "are a great source of pride for Africa and the Arab world" and that "new pages of glory await them in 2026."
