Lesotho chooses its stadium for the Bafana Bafana clash
Lesotho/@CAF
Due to the lack of a CAF-approved stadium, Lesotho has decided to host South Africa on its own territory.
Lesotho will take on South Africa on September 5 at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein as part of matchday seven of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This is great news for the Bafana Bafana, who will now have one less trip to make, especially as they are set to host Nigeria just four days later, again in the qualifiers.
Hugo Broos' men currently top Group C with 13 points from 6 matches, ahead of Rwanda (8 pts), Benin (8 pts), Nigeria (7 pts), Lesotho (6 pts), and Zimbabwe (4 pts).
As a reminder, the winners of the 9 groups will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The four best runners-up will compete in an African play-off tournament, with the winner advancing to an intercontinental play-off.
