Xabi Alonso back on the radar as Ligue 1 club makes contact

Former Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso received offer to return to management following his dismissal in January according to reports.

Alonso linked with return to the touchline

Reports in France have revealed that Xabi Alonso the former head coach of Real Madrid has been approached about return to coaching just weeks after leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

After his departure, Alonso’s name was linked with several clubs, most notably Liverpool.

The Spanish coach was seen as possible replacement for Jurgen Klopp who left the Premier League side at the end of last season.

However Liverpool eventually appointed Arne Slot closing the door on potential move for Alonso to Anfield.

Marseille make contact after De Zerbi exit

According to French outlet RMC, Alonso has since received offer from Marseille who are searching for new head coach following the dismissal of Roberto De Zerbi due to poor results.

Marseille reportedly presented Alonso with the idea of leading the team in Ligue 1 hoping his experience and profile could bring stability and improvement.
