Xabi Alonso confirms Real Madrid youngster could be handed his debut vs Osasuna | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he has not ruled out affording a debut appearance to a member of the club’s summer recruitment list on Tuesday.

The player in question? Franco Mastantuono.

Youngster Mastantuono is for his part of course fresh off finally being unveiled in front of the media as a Real Madrid player.

After being snapped up from River Plate earlier in the summer, the 18-year-old was presented in Spain’s capital late last week.

Mastantuono, in turn, has kicked into gear efforts to integrate himself into Xabi Alonso’s squad at Valdebebas.

And if the latest comments on the part of his manager are anything to go by, then such endeavours appear to be going altogether well for the Argentine.

Speaking to the media in a press conference ahead of his side’s season opener against Osasuna on Tuesday, Alonso was drawn on the possibility of Mastantuono playing his part.

And the Spanish tactician went on to confirm:

“Franco Mastantuono has an incredible left foot. He’s very good and he can play tomorrow. He has the quality, the energy, he’s committed defensively, good momentum, the Argentine competitive spirit. He’s good with the final pass. He’s at a very good level.”
