It’s fair to say that Yang is something of enigma in the eyes of the Celtic support…

Some games he looks like a world beater, and others he resembles a competition winner, which tells you his consistency to produce on a regular basis is the only thing holding him back from being a regular in the Celtic side.

He has the talent, that’s not in question, but his inconsistency is a major stumbling block in his development and something he will have to sort out if he wants to play at the very top level.

I must admit I wouldn’t have batted an eyelid had he been sold in the summer transfer window to Birmingham City, indeed I still believe he should be moved on if we receive an acceptable offer in the next window. However whilst he’s still a Celtic player, he deserves a chance to prove himself.

The South Korean did just that against Feyenoord, scoring the vital equaliser in the 3-1 win in Rotterdam, and looked lively throughout his time on the pitch.

With James Forrest injured, and Michel-Ange Balikwisha falling to impress, it’s vital Yang steps up when needed, like he done on Thursday night.

With a vital game at Easter Road upcoming this coming Sunday lunchtime, Yang has more than earned the right to start the game. Martin O’Neill of course has the final say, but Yang is a worthy candidate to start against the Hibees.
