Head coach Dino Toppmöller, captain Robin Koch and goalscorer Ansgar Knauff on the spectacle at Deutsche Bank Park.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “What a night! Unbelievable! In terms of the atmosphere, it was extraordinary even before kick-off. You could feel the energy. We started the game well but still went 1-0 down. You could see that we were nervous, but that all went away when we equalised. It was a richly deserved win with great goals and great moments. It’s special to be able to celebrate like that at the end.”
Robin Koch: “It was an incredible game from us over the 90 minutes. Our fans put on an amazing show, starting with the tifo. As players, that gives us a massive lift. There are a lot of boys in the team who are playing in the Champions League for the first time. We’ve waited a long time for this moment. To experience something like this with Eintracht in this stadium – you just have to enjoy it and thankfully we were able to. Today we can enjoy this moment and celebrate a bit, but tomorrow our full focus will be on the Bundesliga.”
Ansgar Knauff: “It feels amazing, we played really well. I’m happy that I scored my first Champions league goal and I’m really pleased with our performance as a team. We were really good from the 30th minute onwards, our play was very tidy. That’s what led to us winning by such a high margin. The fans played a huge role in this win because the atmosphere during the warm-up was insane, then the tifo and there was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the whole game. That gives us an extra push.”
