You know this shocking Newcastle United away record?
Well, we keep getting told it is shocking.
Is that true though?
How Eddie Howe’s side will have to do far better on their travels to have any hopes of success this season.
Both media and plenty of Newcastle United fans talking about how terrible it has been.
So has the Newcastle United away record really been that shocking in recent times?
Or like a lot of things, does the reality (the FACTS) tell you something different?
Have a look at the most recent 20 Newcastle United away matches across these past ten and a half months.
The Newcastle United away record since New Year’s day 2024:

That Newcastle United away record reads:
Played 20 Won 11 Drawn 2 Lost 7
As you can see, we aren’t talking about a few games, this is an excellent Newcastle United away record lasting almost eleven months, with the next game on the road at Crystal Palace on 30 November.
To win 11 and lose only seven of these last 20 away matches is very good going..
Also very encouraging to see that Newcastle managed 35 goals in these most recent 20 away matches, averaging the best part of two goals per game.
Nottingham Forest have only lost three matches (all competitions) this season and two of the three have been at home to Eddie Howe’s side.
Interesting to see how this Newcastle United away record will look, once we have added the remaining away matches that are coming up before Christmas. How many points can United pick up at Palace, Brentford and Ipswich?
