One pundit has given his opinion on the situation on one ‘bomb squad’ member in the current Chelsea team.

The ‘bomb squad’ is a term used by the media to describe Chelsea players who are no longer wanted by the club and if they are either waiting to be sold or they cannot be sold, they will be put into a ‘bomb squad’ of individuals who train, eat, and do everything away from the first team group which of course has bought along with it it’s fair share of controversy and debate.

EXCLUSIVE! How Chelsea ‘scrambled’ to sign a new striker on deadline day and turned to Wolves!

Chelsea had an incredible summer transfer window of selling players and raised some very good funds to be in net profit for transfer deals this window. But even after all of that hard and good work there, they were still left with a number of players in the squad who they would have liked to have sold and moved on.

Players such as Axel Disasi, David Datro Fofana, Raheem Sterling, and Tyrique George all wanted to go but none of them got their moves out for whatever reason.

And former Liverpool and England striker Raheem Sterling has given his view on one of them, Raheem Sterling.

Owen on Sterling

In words picked up on X this week, Owen said on the Sterling situation:

“He’s on big wages, and he didn’t quite grasp his chance at Arsenal. He’s clearly surplus to requirements at Chelsea. Sadly, the only way for him now is probably down to a Crystal Palace, West Ham, that type of club.

“But only if he’s happy to take a big wage cut, which only he can answer. The big question will be the wages. Some might say, ‘Well, you’re rich enough already’ – but would you throw away £200,000-a-week to move to a lesser club, even if it means playing more?”
