Youri Tielemans set for £35m Manchester United move, Villa close in on Manzambi with Digne interest | OneFootball

Youri Tielemans is set to join Manchester United after they activated his £35m release clause, with the move at an advanced stage. ExpressAndStar.com reports that a medical is planned at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old has been a standout for Unai Emery’s Europa League winners, though Villa were not in a rush to sell and offered fresh terms.

Tielemans had been in North America for Belgium’s World Cup run, playing a leading role en route to the quarter-final. Belgium lost 2-1 to Spain on Friday after the midfielder suffered an injury in the warm-up.

A departure would end three seasons at Villa Park for the former Leicester player. Signed on a free in 2023, he made 134 appearances and scored 10 goals, the last a brilliant opener in the emphatic Europa League triumph over Freiburg. He also spent spells out with calf and ankle injuries last season.

Villa will be without Amadou Onana for an extended period after he ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament at the World Cup. He could face up to nine months out.

Villa are closing in on a club-record move for Switzerland attacking midfielder Johan Manzambi, 20, having hijacked Newcastle United’s pursuit, with a fee of almost £60m in the works.

French World Cup left-back Lucas Digne is attracting interest from PSG, the back-to-back Champions League winners, who could formalise their approach. His release clause is believed to be less than £10m.
