Yuri Alberto’s injury, which is expected to keep him out for at least four weeks, has opened a contest between Pedro Raul and Gui Negão for the starting role up front at Corinthians.

According to Globo.com, both have featured in seven of the club’s 11 matches this year, though Gui Negão has seen more action. He has five starts, 434 minutes and one goal, while Pedro Raul has one start, 154 minutes, no goals and one assist.

The academy graduate’s goal came in the 3-0 win over Capivariano, when Dorival Júnior picked a largely second-string side. He led the line with Kaio César and Vitinho, with Pedro Raul coming on in the second half. The 19-year-old said after the match that he had been demanding more of himself since last year, felt lifted by two titles, and worked to end a four-month drought.

Back from a 2025 loan at Ceará, Pedro Raul’s only start so far was the 3-0 Paulista loss to Red Bull Bragantino, another outing for the reserves. He set up Breno Bidon in the 1-1 draw with São Paulo. After the 18 January game he noted Dorival had outlined what was expected, adding he must give his best in training, seize chances and help his team-mates.

Corinthians visit Athletico-PR on Thursday at 19:30 Brasília time at Arena da Baixada, Curitiba, in a fixture postponed from the second round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. They then face Portuguesa in the Paulistão quarter-final on Sunday at 20:30 at Canindé.
